While sitting in many and various waiting areas at St George Hospital, I noticed that none of the televisions provided for diversion while waiting have the Closed Captions turned on. Being deaf I am well aware that deafness is the invisible disability. So often, in various services, captions and words are not provided. The needs of the deaf are often overlooked. Even with excellent hearing aids it can be impossible to pick up the dialogue in the circumstances that apply in waiting rooms. To some this might seem like a minor detail, but is is expressive of how deafness is overlooked. Please turn on the Closed Captions, make a normal practice in all waiting rooms.
