I asked to see if they could get internet for the hospital, because I use the internet to help cope a lot. I have many bpd groups on facebooks, an instagram to vent, YouTube for educational videos and as a distraction to help calm me, anime lab to change my mood over emotion shows and Snapchat/messenger/ messages to communicate to loved ones and friends, as well as work so they know if I’m alright or where I am and what I’m doing. I even explained this to them and said that I would get a form to list my reasons and potentially get internet in the ward. They never gave me a form. I was super excited originally but when they didn’t give me the form I was really upset and felt they didn’t care about me.

Thank you for your feedback. Connecting with those that can offer support such as friends, family and loved ones is very important to recovery and I understand your desire to do so. The East Metropolitan Youth Unit has two internet kiosks available for patients to connect to, however on occasion, access to the internet is restricted or temporarily unavailable for various reasons. I apologise if you felt the staff did not care for you, I am sure that is not the case. Can I please encourage you to speak with the Nurse Unit Manager if you require any assistance with this in the future.
