"Emergency Department"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Took myself to the hospital with my newborn baby at 1.00 am in the morning after horrible abdominal pains and vomiting. Was in the ED for 12 hrs while they did tests and x-rays. The nurses held my baby when I needed sleep or if I was busy doing tests or x-rays.

Ended up being appendicitis and surgery was needed. Was in hospital for 6 days and the staff were all so friendly and helpful. They also helped my spouse with our newborn as I wasn’t able to get up out of bed to tend to the baby and my spouse had to take the baby home.

Cannot fault the staff. Made the experience so much easier!

Dear izarww98,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Patient Opinion particularly in light of what must be a very busy time for you being a new mum and being unwell yourself. It was wonderful to read of the compassionate care you received from the team and that we were able to make a stressful time for you and your spouse a little less so.

We really do value patient feedback as it enables us to reflect on what we do well and where we need to improve, it also lets us know what is important to our patients and their families. Your positive experience is a great example of the work our team do every day and I will take great pride and delight in passing on your compliment on to the team.

Thanks again for taking the time to write, I hope you are well on the road to recovery and enjoying your time with your new bundle of joy.

Best wishes

Michele
