"Thank you Dr Teak"

About: Wonthaggi Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

We had an appointment with the local clinic for my mother in her late 80's. They cancelled and we then went to the Emergency Department at Wonthaggi Hospital. The triage nurse was very efficient and soon we were seen by a young, kind and compassionate Dr Teak. He listened patiently to all my concerns about my mother. I thought she may have had a lung infection and I was hoping for antibiotics to prevent pneumonia. After a thorough examination, blood tests and x-ray, Dr Teak said it was just a little fluid in her lungs and that I was to recommence her Furosemide. I asked Teak to ring me regarding the blood tests. He did so a few hours later. How lucky were we to find ourselves at Wonthaggi ED. We were extremely impressed by Teak. He is a young man with a great future. Everything one would want from a doctor who cares. Your parents would be very proud of you Teak. The Wonthaggi community is very fortunate. Thank you.

Dear grateful and thankful daughter,

Wow. 😊 What a wonderful way for our Hospital Medical Officer Teak to finish off his rotation here at Wonthaggi Emergency Department. He couldn’t get a better reference to take back to his teaching hospital than this acknowledgement from you. Thanks so much for taking the time to recognise his care and compassion. There is great pride when staff receive direct positive feedback from patients and families and I know that our team agree that he has been a huge asset during his rotation from Monash. Whilst sadly he leaves us this week, we hope his positive experience with BCH will lure him back in the future as he progresses his medical career. Well Done Teak, and thank you for role modelling great clinical leadership!

Kind regards, Jan.
