"Person-centred care at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Nuclear Medicine Department"

About: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital / Clinical oncology (previously radiotherapy)

(as a parent/guardian),

Recently my daughter attended the Nuclear Medicine Department for Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy or PRRT, to manage her increasing symptoms and stabilise her neuroendocrine tumours or NETs. This is the first cycle since 2016, where she received an induction course of four treatments. We are so fortunate to have this therapy available in SA, equally an amazing, dedicated group of NET specialist doctors and nurses. Their empathy, care, kindness and compassion is always focused on the patient and their family. The time taken to respond to any questions, or any concerns are always treated in a caring, friendly, efficient and empathetic manner. I hope this service will continue as my daughter's treatment (as well as many other NET patients) is fundamental to her general health, well-being and quality of life. A culture of caring is well demonstrated in this department.
