"Sydney Hospital Hand Unit not contactable"

(as the patient),

After receiving a text message for an upcoming appointment, I realised I had to reschedule. However the phone number provided would automatically hang up and never actually work. In turn, I had to walk to the Hand Unit (luckily my work is 15 minutes away) to reschedule. After calling many times on other occasions, I realised this phone number is simply not a working one. After questioning the reception at the Hand Unit, they said this number is outsourced (even though it is a 02 number). I’m not sure whether they lied or simply lacked knowledge. Additionally, updating my appointment was also made harder as the receptionist claimed my therapist was not in that day, yet I saw the therapist on the same day. I’m not sure why the receptionist had to lie about that.

Thank you for your feedback in relation to your experience with the phone number and, the difficulty you experienced in rescheduling your appointment with the Hand Clinic. I am concerned that you were unable to contact anyone on the phone number you were provided with and, encountered further issues while trying to reschedule in person.

I am disappointed to hear of your experience and have referred your concerns to the relevant managers for their follow-up.
