"No healing atmosphere"

About: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital

(as the patient),

Wanted to kill myself and was taken to Charlie’s in WA and I feel they did nothing but treat me like an inconvenience. All I did was wait and wait and when I eventually saw a psychiatrist, I feel they were arrogant, rude and condescending and offered no help whatsoever.

I feel the food was not fit for human consumption and the patients seem to be left to their own devices. There was no apparent help offered in any way. I think it’s the worst place I've been! Catch my drift? I think the place is run like a Gulag and you are treated like a criminal if you ask for an aspirin. There doesn't appear to have a healing atmosphere to the place. To me it’s more like a slaughter yard, bring me in and send me out in pieces. I feel it's a terrible, horrible place.
