"Disappointing outpatient appointment"

About: Redcliffe Hospital

(as the patient),

Recently I had an appointment with a doctor in the Specialist Outpatients Department in the afternoon.

I was disappointed with the amount of time it took to get to see a doctor. The doctor took over an hour to see me. I get that it is a busy hospital and I have to wait, but I am a patient. That was too long, especially when I stiffen up with my knee, I had to get up multiple times to walk to exercise.

When I got in there the doctor walked out for about 10 mins so I was waiting and waiting. Then the doctor came in and said what can I help you with, I said you tell me.

The doctor said when did you have your operation, I feel the doctor should have read the information written on my paperwork. I had to tell the doctor when the operation was. Then the doctor said how many weeks, I told the doctor how many weeks it had been. The doctor then looked at my 90 degree bend and said okay, it will take up to 12 months to have a better bend.

I don't know the doctor's name but I feel the doctor was clueless. Now I want someone to be able to follow up and help me to understand why the doctor was blasé. I asked the doctor if I could drive yet and the doctor said, if you can put pressure on the brake pedal, then nothing more was said. I just thought I am none the wiser.

I had a good knee replacement operation and the staff in the ward were amazing and I gave good feedback after I had my operation, but the outpatient side leaves a lot to be desired.
