"My parent's aged care experience"

I have a long association with the Blue Care facility Boyanda here on the Sunshine Coast. Over a period of approximately 15 years I have watched the services and support to residents deteriorate to the point that I am forced to complain.

My parent has now had several falls, two of which has required hospitalisation. My parent has recently been hospitalised after a recent fall.

On my parent's first fall I checked the fall alarms in the room and found them to be not working. I reported it and several days later I made an enquiry to see if they were fixed and was told all the others were not functional either.

My parent fell again recently and the alarms failed to work once again. I have no idea how long my parent was on the floor before being found.

Carers have told me of their concerns about their inability to function effectively because of short staffing and time constraints. Defective equipment seems to be common.

There are numerous issues that need to be addressed and as much as I complain, nothing is done.

How does this facility pass any kind of audit, no matter how basic and yet they received accreditation each year and present themselves as an example for the industry.
