Recently, my spouse and I camped near Meekatharra on our way back from Broome towards Perth. My spouse suffered extremely bad stomach cramps/pain during the night, so after trying sleep, walking around, sitting by the fire etc., my spouse asked me to take them to hospital. We got there about just after midnight.
Just wanted to report that staff were fantastic - two nurses did all the preliminaries, then called the doctor, who came in at a few hours later. They were all very kind and efficient.
My spouse was kept in overnight for observation, after much needed pain-relief medication. I slept in the van outside the hospital. We were even visited by the local constabulary, who recognised our old van from the journey north some five weeks prior.
We left the hospital in the late morning, after thorough observations and checking - of course difficult to say why these pains occurred so strongly. The day staff were also very helpful.
Got back to Perth safely!
We were most grateful for the care and attention received at Meekatharra Hospital.
