"Supported during the birth of my baby at Esperance Health Campus"

About: Esperance Health Campus / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I went into labour recently and my baby was born a day later.

From the moment I went into labour until returning home 5 days later, I had the most incredible care from the midwives at the time; Donna, Sue, Annie, Renee and Dawn as well as the doctors, Dr Karl and Dr Paul who were mainly involved in the emergency caesarean I needed after 14 hours of labour.

The midwives comforted me, supported me and provided and compassion during my labour. They also helped support my partner.

During the decision of how my labour was to progress, Dr Karl provided my options for pain relief as well as delivery options and gave me the reasons behind each.

The end decision of a caesarean under a general anaesthetic was needed which I understood.

Many people were involved in the labour and delivery and I felt I was in the best hands and the baby and I were their number one priority.

The care following the delivery was also outstanding and I cannot thank everyone enough. The Esperance Hospital should be very lucky to have such incredible staff and should be given the credit they deserve.

Dear maywp36

Thank you so much for the wonderful compliment, when this must be a very busy time for you as a new mum. It was really great to hear that, what could have been a worrying time for you during the birth of your baby, was made so much easier because of the care the team provided.

It is great outcome for all when we hear stories like yours that you were informed, you were able to make decisions in the birth of your baby and that we have a healthy mother and baby.

We value the team we have at the Esperance Hospital and we have passed onto the Doctors and Midwives your thanks which they really appreciated.

Wishing you all the best for the future

Kind Regards

Margaret Smillie
