"The hospital doesn’t know the difference between Dairy Intolerance and Lactose Free"

About: Kalgoorlie Health Campus

(as a parent/guardian),

My child was given a lactose free diet instead of a dairy free one. My child spent the night in so much pain despite analgesia. My child's meals were questioned time and time again with no change.

Dear KalRes,

I have looked into this and concluded that we need to do some further work on understanding meals preparation for patients with special dietary needs.

I sincerely apologise for what happened during your child’s admission, and I genuinely hope that your child’s other health issues have improved from admission.

If you wish to discuss the matter further please contact me at carol.erlank@health.wa.gov.au
