"Child with broken arm"

About: Sunshine Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

I was at Sunshine Hospital recently. There was this child who had a broken arm, the child had two friends there for moral support and a parent. The child seemed to be in their early teens and was in agony in my opinion. The child was sitting next to me and I could hear them agonising for about 20 minutes and the front reception staff (ie. Triage Nurses) gave the child no pain killers. Everyone in the waiting room was exclaiming why haven't they given this child anything for the pain? I wondered the same thing. I know they were extremely busy but they should give all people in pain something. What I learnt from watching this is that it seems like you are best calling the ambulance and not braving it in the hospital because at least in the ambulance they may give you pain killers and attend to your injury in a more swift manner.
