"My drug addiction and impulsive behaviours"

About: Alcohol and Drug Counselling - Kingaroy (Lives Lived Well) Lives Lived Well - Kingaroy

(as a service user),

I grew up exposed to drugs and various forms of abuse.

I went through life knowing I needed help and support but I was too scared to face the hurt and take the steps to repair myself.

I was a heavy amphetamines user but took a multitude of different types of drugs to self medicate and dull my pain.

I was violent went I came down and destroyed my marriage and relationships with my kids.

Eventually, it all caught up with me. Right the point of having a massive heart attack so big I was dead for 9 minutes and not expected to survive.

I had absconded from the hospital on two occasions just to score ice.

Then everyone I knew washed their hands of me and I was told by my partner to fix my problem or get out of their life.

So I contacted Lives Lived Well to try and get some control of my life and save my relationship too.

So I went to counselling at Lives lived well for 12 weeks and worked through my troubles and learned about my strengths and weaknesses and how to understand the behaviours that led me to drug use. I was given tools to empower me and make me strong enough to kick a lifelong drug addiction. Now I’m confident enough to get through life without the need for any drugs.
