"Gratitude for staff at Sale Hospital"

About: Sale Hospital / Emergency Department Sale Hospital / Medical Service/Ward Sale Hospital / Oncology Sale Hospital / Surgical Services/Ward

(as a relative),

My husband has had a lot to do with Sale Hospital over the past few years since being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.  Whilst we have had our ups and downs along the way we could not fault the care and compassion shown to my husband. I would like to thank the Oncology Nursing Staff for their care when my husband had chemotherapy. Sale Hospital is lucky to have these dedicated Nursing Staff. Thanks also to the Palliative Care team who looked after my husband and offered support to me also.

Prior to my husband dying he attended the Emergency Department (ED) wherein staff assessed him in a professional and compassionate manner and then organised a bed for him in the Surgical Ward so he did not have to lie in ED waiting for a bed. The staff in the Surgical Ward were again professional and compassionate.

My husband was then transferred to the Supportive Care Room in the Medical Ward. The care and attention that was shown to my husband during the 5 days he spent in the Medical Ward was beyond reproach. The Nursing staff were caring, attentive, professional and compassionate. The Nurse Unit Manager was obliging and very understanding of our needs as a family and we appreciate this.

Every staff member my husband and our family came into contact with at this sad time are to be commended for their professionalism, kindness, and understanding. My family and myself cannot thank you enough. Sincerest thanks.

Dear sigmagb59,

My name is Kate Roberts and I am the Nurse Unit Manager in the Emergency Department (ED).

I would like to thank you for your story at a time when you are grieving for a family member. This must be a difficult time for you and your family.

Our clinical and non-clinical staff in the ED aim to give the highest standards of care to our community and to facilitate a patient’s care in the most appropriate area of the Hospital.

We are glad that despite your family’s situation you are able to have the time to share your feelings about our workplace. I will be sure to share your story with the team.

Yours sincerely

Kate
