"Labour and delivery"

About: Esperance Health Campus / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I felt I was judged for using pain relief whilst in labour. I was told I couldn’t control my pain. I ended up with a nerve injury in my back due to the position of my baby’s head. I now have birth trauma. My hope is for all labour pains to be taken seriously.

Dear limafm83,

I would firstly like to thank you for contacting us regarding the trauma you experienced while in labour, it was disappointing for me to hear that our professional and caring staff would judge you for wanting pain relief.

We would really appreciate being able to speak to you about your experience so we can review the care that was provided to you. If you are happy to do this please contact Carla Jones who is the Director of Nursing at the Esperance Health Campus, Carla can be contacted on 0407 939 794.

I do hope you will contact us as the information you provide may be able to help us improve the way we care for patients and families in the future.

Kind Regards

Margaret Smillie
