"Broome Hospital"

About: Broome Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

My teenager was suicidal. Took them to the Emergency Department and they were fantastic!

We were triaged pretty quickly and seen by a mental health worker and a doctor.

They took us to a quiet room and we talked with them for almost 2.5 hrs.

Super happy with their support and the outcome of our visit.

Dear Happy Patient,

Thank you for your feedback.

I have been through a similar experience myself and know how very difficult it is on a number of levels.

That compassionate approach makes all the difference and we are very proud of the team at Broome Hospital; they really do care, and go above and beyond for their community. It's impressive to see.

I hope your teenager is doing well and trust they are hooked up with all of the appropriate supports. The Community Mental Health Team in Broome is excellent.

Thank you again for posting.

Please be sure to look after yourself, too.

All the best

Wendy

Dear Happy Patient,

Thankyou for making the time to give positive feedback- it is always appreciated by our frontline workers. We are very fortunate in Broome to have skilled mental health clinicians in the Emergency Department working very well with our generally trained clinicians.

It can be a daunting experience coming to the Emergency Department with mental health concerns so I am glad that you were able to support your teenager to access this care. We also work well with our community services to make sure the pathway from the Emergency Department to feeling safe, hopeful and moving forward is as seamless as possible. I hope your teenager is well on the way to feeling better.

Supporting someone with these thoughts can be a very stressful experience so please make sure you are accessing support as well.

Best wishes for the future

Renee
