"Waiting times"

About: Exmouth Health Service

(as other),

The long waiting times in Exmouth need to be addressed. We have no option but to go through the Emergency Department for non-emergencies because it takes so long to get an appointment which clogs up that system.

I believe an additional private practice would relieve the pressure on our public system. The staff in Exmouth do the best they can but it has been like this for many years and becomes worse in the tourist season because the influx of non-residents is not taken into account when determining how many doctors are needed here.

Dear rhinofd83,

Thank you for providing us with feedback about the wait times to see a GP at Exmouth Hospital. We appreciate your support for the GP service that we provide to the community in the absence of a private provider. Whilst we do increase our staff numbers during the tourist season from April to October, there are times when service demand is greater than availability. We acknowledge that there are some occasions that people have had to present to the Emergency Department for GP type care.

Tamara Sweeney, Operations Manager Gascoyne would really like the opportunity to discuss your feedback further. You can contact her on phone: 9941 0301 or email Tamara.Sweeney@health.wa.gov.au. Alternatively, you can contact me on 9956 8695 or email liz.kelly@health.wa.gov.au

Please be assured your feedback is valued by WACHS Midwest and hope you will be in contact with us soon.

Kind Regards

Liz
