"Rude staff"

I spoke to someone over the phone at Rockdale Community Services as I wanted to inquire about getting someone to come out and provide a quote for lawn mowing services for my elderly parent.

My parent already has someone doing the work monthly which was arranged through another service. This organisation increased their prices which is too high for us to continue paying. I only wanted a quote from Rockdale Community Services before making any further decisions. I was told by this person that my parent would have to relinquish the current service before anyone can come out and provide a quote.

It does not make sense to give up the current service in order to get a quote and then to find out their services will cost my elderly parent more money. Then they would have to reapply and possibly wait for a period of time before getting someone to mow their lawn. This is obviously frustrating that this is the process by Rockdale Community Services. If you are not happy with any service, you are entitled to make enquiries in order to determine costs. My final frustrations ended when the person I spoke to rudely hung up on me. I believe this is unacceptable and not behaviour I would expect from anyone who is affiliated with aged care. I feel Rockdale Community Services should review their staff as clearly there are staff there that should not be working in the age care business.
