My right eye was filling up with floaters and not knowing what they were, I rang my optometrist. I was advised to come in for an examination which I did and was told to head to The Sydney Eye Hospital straight away as there was a tear in the retina behind my eye.
After having eye drops and questions asked by a darling lady I was seen by an eye doctor who informed me I had to have laser treatment immediately to stop further tearing. The floaters also contained blood which impacted my vision.
As you can imagine I went frozen with (can I sleep on it and get back to you tomorrow). I asked if the procedure was going to hurt and the doctor informed me most patients hardly feel a thing. So I had to suck it up and replied let's just do it!
I must admit I did not feel a thing. The laser went all around the eye and took about 20 minutes.
When it was over I was speechless. The eye doctor was absolutely amazing!! Her expertise, professionalism and calmness got me through. I cannot say enough about my experience - these eye doctors are brilliant.
I have been back twice now for checkups and was advised the eye doctor did a great job. The floaters have decreased and the blood has gone.
