"End of Life Care"

About: Life Care Aldinga Beach Court ILUs

(as a relative),

My mother lived at Aldinga Beach Nursing Home two years ago. As her condition deteriorated, due to dementia, she became not only physically more dependant on staff, but also demonstrated challenging behaviours.

The staff ensured I was always kept informed of any incidents, care plan reviews or interventions by the GP. As I live overseas, this service was exemplary, and of great importance to me. When my mother continued to decline, I came to Adelaide to visit her. The staff were so patient, kind, gentle and caring, not only in my mother's care, but also to myself. The attentiveness to detail in her End of Life Care was superb. The staff discreetly managed her care, whilst obviously understanding the need to ring-fence quality time for family members.

Staff who had known my mother when she was in other units, came to say their goodbyes to her, when she was dying. This sign of respect was amazing and wonderful to experience, at the saddest of times. The care given to my mother in her Life and in her Death whilst at Aldinga Beach was an example of best practice, and I am sure it has helped me in my grief to know she died with dignity, without distress or pain.

As a professional who works in the field of Dementia and End of Life Care, I cannot emphasise enough, how good the standard of care was.
