"Staff not understanding insomnia treatment"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital

(as the patient),

All the staff were wonderful: cleaning, kitchen, nursing, doctors.

Particularly the nursing staff were like human angels from young David  in his first year through to the more experienced  nurses but it feels unfair of course to name individuals because I didn't get everyone's name and everyone was great.

My only criticism, and to me a significant one, is, being a long-term chronic insomniac, the reticence of the medical staff to supply me with my usual prescription of Stilnox meant that I got less than two hours sleep a night for many nights I was there.

Days after being discharged was still suffering the effects of the sleep deprivation, which hindered my recovery, and I strongly suggest the staff do a bit of research on that medication and its effectiveness for some individuals.

Dear serpensbd88,

Thank you for acknowledging the wonderful staff involved in your care. I will ensure your compliments reach them, especially David.

I am sorry that your regular medication was not charted and supplied during your stay. Sharing your story is valuable in helping us understand our patients' needs.

I hope you are now recovering well at home.

Kind regards

Alan
