"From ED to Day Surgery at KEMH"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Over a couple of weeks, I had numerous visits to the Emergency Department at King Edward Memorial Hospital. From my first visit there, I was looked after exceptionally well by every team member I came across. The midwives at the Emergency Department were absolutely fantastic. Every step of the process was explained to me and everyone was so friendly and professional. When I found out I'd had a miscarriage, the staff were so friendly and supportive, and always made sure I was OK.

The doctors and midwives explained my options of treatment to me, and they made sure I could make the right decision for me without feeling judged.

I then went on to get admitted to the Day Surgery Unit to have a procedure, and was again welcomed and treated exceptionally well by the clerk, midwives, doctors and everyone else I came across. The procedure was fully explained to me, and the aftercare was brilliant and efficient. I could be discharged in a timely manner and could go home and recover in my home.

The staff at KEMH had such a positive effect on me and my partner, while we were going through a difficult time with the miscarriage. I would recommend this hospital to everyone!

Dear D89,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the Women and Newborn Health Service. I am incredibly sorry to read of the loss of your baby. I recognise the overwhelming grief a family suffers after losing a child who sadly, did not have the opportunity to reach their potential and I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to you and your family.

Our service strives to always provide quality, patient-centered care and it is pleasing to hear of the high-quality care and support that was provided to you during this incredibly difficult time.

Thank you once again for your feedback. I will ensure that your comments are provided to the staff that work in the areas you have mentioned. I wish you and your family well for the future.

Kind Regards

Jodie Graham
