"My experience with Broome Hospital"

About: Broome Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Recently my husband had to rush me to Broome Hospital because I experienced severe numbness, pins and needles in the left half of my body and couldn’t walk properly.

At the reception my details were taken and within 10 minutes I was taken into the emergency room and seen by Dr. David and a very caring male nurse. From then on, I was having all the treatment essential to establish the cause of my problems and given medication. The next day I was moved into the ward into a lovely room with ensuite. Dr Justen and young Dr Geoff were wonderful in explaining the cause of my condition, a possible lacunar stroke.

I would like to thank the lovely nurses, physiotherapist Chris, Chemist Andrew and all ward staff for their excellent care.

For my recovery at home, I was interviewed by age care and TCP professionals.

I am now receiving physio and therapeutical help from Brams at home.

I wish to thank you very much. I could not possibly imagine better care in this stressful situation.

Kind regards

Dear neptunefd96,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience at Broome Health Campus. I'm very pleased to hear that you felt well cared for during what must have been a very frightening and stressful time.

It's heartening to know that our Emergency Department team, including Dr David and the attending nurse, were able to respond so promptly and compassionately. I’m also glad to hear that Dr Justen, Dr Geoff, and the wider team in the ward provided you with clear explanations and supportive care throughout your stay.

Your kind words about our nurses, physiotherapist Chris, pharmacist Andrew, and all the ward staff mean a great deal. I will ensure your thanks are passed on to each of them—they’ll be deeply appreciative.

It’s also reassuring to know that you’ve been well supported with ongoing care at home through aged care and transitional care services, as well as the team at BRAMS. A strong network of care beyond the hospital walls is so important in supporting recovery.

On behalf of everyone at Broome Hospital, thank you again for your kind feedback. We wish you continued progress in your recovery and all the very best for your health and wellbeing.

Warm regards,
James Sherriff
Executive, Broome Hospital
