"Outpaitents Breast Clinic & Student Team Experience"

About: Princess Alexandra Hospital

(as the patient),

OK so long story short went for regular Breast Screening they found an issue they thought was a clinical issue so automatically they refer us to the PA Hospital's Outpatient Breast Clinic. Come off a 30 day wait list, & I get the student doctors & training team. Rather than discuss options, they go straight for semi or surgical biopsy options.

Had the routine bilateral biopsy on New Years. They busted a fibroid & a vein underneath. Presented to the ED a 1 1/2 weeks later in excruciating pain from procedural related damage. A seemingly rude overnight nurse told me I couldn't say it was getting bigger. Had no sleep because the thing just got bigger. They kept us in 78 hrs in emergency, had a delayed drainage procedure, & they couldn't drain the hametoma because it solidified but would anyone care to tell me even though it did that why did it keep filling out in everyone else's ED unit there after. Discharged myself.

2-3 hospitals later, wound back down to another hospital to better judgement - they however did aspirate it & provided immediate relief to that but failed to surgically drain a collection of post surgical fluid when I had to go back again. Left numerous complaints with Metro South Health & the Chief Medical Officer about our experience between the pair of hospitals. Submitted all past medical history & scans to PA thinking we were doing right thing.

Finally got re-assigned more experienced doctor who was a surgeon, & more experienced nurses in their surgical care unit. Moral of the story is, based on my experience, pre-submit all medical history especially if you havent already to prevent a double up of same information, use your Ryans Law, & ask for someone far more experienced. Just wanted to thank the surgeon who took over & handled things, as for the senior nurse - don't know why they decided what they did, but its still an on going issue, & either way had to change hospitals.
