"Successful and supported VBAC at Box Hill"

About: Box Hill Hospital / Maternity Service

(as the patient),

I was nervous about approaching a VBAC in the public system, as I had been warned that there can be pushback.

The care I received was extremely supportive and encouraging. I went into labour spontaneously at 40 weeks and the doctors continuously listened to my preferences throughout labour and treated my partner and I with respect and care.

The midwives were amazing, I genuinely don't think I could have chosen a better team even if I had scoured through the private system for my pick.

Everything about the birth was healing and beautiful, with every single one of my preferences being heard.

Even when things became a bit dicey with babies heart rate dropping with contractions, my doctor and midwife were present, calm and encouraging. This all meant I felt safe and not at all stressed in what could have been a stressful situation.

My baby was safely and lovingly delivered and I felt supported every step of the way, even to the moment of discharge after staying for 24 hours.

I would choose Box Hill Hospital again in a heartbeat.

Thank you to the OB, Matilda and the midwives, Rhi and Izzy.
