"Complicated pregnancy with vascular tumor"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital

(as the patient),

I was feeling pretty unsure about everything untill I got a hold of the aboriginal mgp at king Edward memorial hospital

I was absolutely amazed by the dedication they have to their patients in particular my midwife (jascinta) from my very first appointment made me so comfortable and at ease, she was there at a single phone call and if not her another lovely midwife would be there, as I mentioned I have a vascular tumor that has left me with a bit of heart failure so because of this I was high priority and was looked after extremely well. I honestly couldn’t fault any of it! If there was absolutely anything that could be improved is maybe the after care visits being spread out a bit more so not just in the first three days of coming home but maybe separating those three visits over a few more days. Other than that they were absolutely fantastic and I’d love to go through them again if I even fall pregnant again.

Dear Lisgt66,

Thank you for sharing your story with us and congratulations on the birth of your little one. I am so pleased that Jascinta at the Aboriginal Midwifery Group Practice (AMGP) was able to provide you with the support and reassurance you needed through what must’ve been a worrying time. You've highlighted beautifully the benefits of the AMGP, including having your midwife available at just a phone call away. It allows women and their primary midwife to build a trusting relationship, and having someone who can guide you through such a significant life event makes all the difference.

Thank you for your reflection on how the service could be improved by spreading out the postnatal home visits. We will share this with the team for their consideration, along with your kind words of appreciation for the dedicated work that they do.

Best wishes

Delaney
