"Birth with MGP5 at KEMH"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

Last month, I went into hospital under the care of the Midwifery Group Practice (MGP5) after experiencing contractions along with reduced fetal movements. As a first-time mum, I was feeling a mix of excitement and nerves, but I was incredibly fortunate to have my midwife Ginny by my side throughout the entire experience.

During labour, it became clear that my little boy needed a bit of extra help. His heart rate began to drop and wasn’t recovering as quickly as expected, so an episiotomy and forceps delivery were needed to ensure he arrived safely. Despite the unexpected turn, I felt completely supported and reassured the entire time.

I can’t speak highly enough of Ginny — the care, compassion, and strength Ginny showed from start to finish made all the difference. Thanks to her, I look back on my son's birth as a positive and empowering experience, even with the challenges we faced.

Dear earmarkmq68

Thank you for taking the time to share your labour and birth story, and congratulations on the birth of your son.

It must have been very concerning to be faced with such a difficult situation. I’m so pleased that the care and support you received from Ginny during such a challenging time meant so much and resulted in such a difference to your experience.

We are very proud of the care and support our staff from the Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) provide all our patients and I will be very pleased to pass on your gratitude to Ginny. In the meantime, I hope that you and your family are continuing to thrive.

Warm regards

Barbara
