We have had three children through three different models of maternity care in the Perth metropolitan area, including both private and public services.
What I loved about MGP was the rapport built between my midwife and myself that continuity of care provides. The safe, caring and familiar environment was akin to a feeling of family. My midwife wasn’t present during my actual birth, which was unfortunate for us, but resulted in us being at the mercy of the wider KEMH community which turned out to be an equally positive experience.
The staff and facilities were excellent. I was treated with dignity and respect, asked for my opinion and consent, and my questions and needs felt heard. The whole system was a beautifully oiled machine.
The follow up from MGP and continued touch points (such as postpartum morning teas) provide an ongoing relationship and support net for my family. I would chose KEMH MGP again for our future children over any privately funded experience (yes, we are open to 4!).
