"Thanking the Palliative Service and Staff"

About: Sutherland Hospital / TSH Inpatient Palliative Care (The Sutherland Hospital)

(as a relative),

On behalf of our entire family, I want to extend our deepest thanks to the incredible palliative care service at Sutherland Hospital, led by Dr. Camilla . As Michael’s sister and a registered nurse myself, I know just how critical, and at times challenging, it can be to navigate the healthcare system in moments of great vulnerability. But thanks to this remarkable team, we were able to give my brother the dignified, compassionate, and comfortable care he so deserved in his final weeks.

This service is relatively new, yet its impact is profound. Without it, our ability to care for Michael in the way we hoped would have been so much more difficult. The support provided was nothing short of extraordinary, personal, professional, and truly human. We always felt seen, supported, and never alone.

The Warada Ward nursing staff showed Michael (and all of us) such genuine kindness, patience, and compassion. Every interaction was infused with care, and it brought enormous comfort to know he was surrounded by people who treated him with such tenderness and respect.

From the bottom of our hearts…thank you. For walking beside us through one of the most painful times in our lives, and for helping us uphold Michael’s dignity, comfort, and peace.

With gratitude,

A Grateful Sister

Dear A Grateful Sister,

Please accept my deepest condolences to you and your family on the loss of your brother, Michael.

I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your beautiful words and acknowledgment of our palliative care team and the staff on Warada ward. Your words truly highlight the profound impact of compassionate, dedicated care. It is very moving to hear how Dr Camilla and our incredible staff provided such compassionate and dignified care to your brother during his final weeks. We are very fortunate to have such dedicated and compassionate staff working at Sutherland Hospital. We strive to deliver a high standard of care and to read your words of being seen, supported and never alone, affirms exactly what we strive to achieve. It will give me great pleasure to pass your lovely words on to the Palliative Care team and the staff of Warada.

My best wishes
