On behalf of our entire family, I want to extend our deepest thanks to the incredible palliative care service at Sutherland Hospital, led by Dr. Camilla . As Michael’s sister and a registered nurse myself, I know just how critical, and at times challenging, it can be to navigate the healthcare system in moments of great vulnerability. But thanks to this remarkable team, we were able to give my brother the dignified, compassionate, and comfortable care he so deserved in his final weeks.
This service is relatively new, yet its impact is profound. Without it, our ability to care for Michael in the way we hoped would have been so much more difficult. The support provided was nothing short of extraordinary, personal, professional, and truly human. We always felt seen, supported, and never alone.
The Warada Ward nursing staff showed Michael (and all of us) such genuine kindness, patience, and compassion. Every interaction was infused with care, and it brought enormous comfort to know he was surrounded by people who treated him with such tenderness and respect.
From the bottom of our hearts…thank you. For walking beside us through one of the most painful times in our lives, and for helping us uphold Michael’s dignity, comfort, and peace.
With gratitude,
A Grateful Sister
