"Positive Birth Story - supported by the most amazing miwives at Broome Hospital"

About: Broome Health Campus / Maternity/Midwifery

(as the patient),

I was induced at 39 weeks in my second pregnancy. I am in my 40s and this was our second IVF baby.

I didn't take part in the Broome Hospital's Midwifrey Group Practise (MGP) as I wanted to work with an Endorsed Midwife - Tracey who I worked with the first time.  I knew that on the day I went in to labour I would be supported by the right people who would be an energetic match to how I wanted to be supported.

I ended up being induced, as certain circumstances were out of my hands, and I was happy about this. And just as I hoped I had two amazing midwives support me. Christina and Pippa were amazing. They listened to what I wanted in my birth preferences, were kind, caring, supportive and encouraging. It made the whole 5.5hours of being in labour a good and positive experience. I was so grateful for them being there for me, even though I had no idea who would be there on the day.

I also had a Dr Nadia there to support me and she is actually a good friend of mine.  Even though everyone is super keen to have a midwife from the MGP program, I am so happy with the process I followed. Christina and Pippa were gems and I feel everything went really well. Thankyou Broome Hospital for these incredible midwives.

Dear libraqx44,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your birth experience at Broome Health Campus. We're truly honoured to have been part of such a significant moment in your life, and we're thrilled to hear that your induction and labour were positive and empowering.

We’re especially pleased to hear that Christina and Pippa provided the care, support, and respect you needed during your labour, and that their approach aligned with your birth preferences. They, along with Dr Nadia, embody the compassion and professionalism we strive for in our maternity team. Your kind words will mean a great deal to them, and I’ll be sure to pass on your feedback.

At Broome Hospital, we understand that every pregnancy and birth journey is unique, and we’re committed to providing safe, individualised care—whether through our Midwifery Group Practice or other pathways like the one you chose with your Endorsed Midwife. It’s heartening to know you felt supported and well cared for every step of the way.

Congratulations on the birth of your second IVF baby, and we wish you and your family continued health and happiness.

Warm regards,

James Sherriff
