"My birth experience"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Community Midwifery Program King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternal Fetal Assessment Unit King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I had the most amazing first time birth experience. I had all my appointments at the Family Birth Centre at KEMH with the amazing Olivia. She was always so kind and made sure I was getting all the information I needed and wanted. I never felt under pressure when making decisions which I hear is a rarity. My labour was also an amazing experience.

The two midwives Olivia and Sarah were there for me at 1am and they were both wide awake and ready to go which was nice and encouraging. Made me feel less bad for waking them up in the middle of the night. Even when I was pushing for 2 hours the midwives continued to encourage me and didn't try rushing me at all. The ladies cared for me, my husband and my baby so well in the hospital and made sure we felt comfortable before going home. They also offered us breakfast which I felt was so incredibly kind.

Olivia then came and saw us for 3 days at home after giving birth and also came a 4th day even tho I understand she didnt have to but the CHN hadnt contacted me and Olivia didnt want me to go to long without a check up. I cannot wait to have another baby and I will definitely be going back to Olivia at the birth centre next time.
