"Mould in shower"

About: Joondalup Health Campus

(as a relative),

Recently whilst visiting my parent who is staying in the public ward at Joondalup Health Campus, I noticed their shower in their room has a significant amount of mould. I took photographs.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing, given this is a hospital ward that is caring and aiding in the treatment for those who aren't well and already have a compromised immune system.

I notified one of the nursing staff on shift and she said she would make the night manager aware.

The next afternoon, still there is mould in the shower.

The following morning I sent a complaint email to the Consumer Liaison department outlining my concerns regarding the significance of the mould, and that is is unacceptable.

That this is a health hazard and a breeding ground for more potential health risks.

My parent already has asthma, a respiratory illness and a weakened immune system.

Consumer Liaison says that will get back to you within 24 hours however that time frame has come and gone.

I called the hospital and was put through to this department and no one answered the phone and it went to voicemail.

It is of extreme concern to me that Joondalup Health Campus seemingly isn't on top of their and maintenance.

Absolutely disgusting, in my opinion, especially for a health setting that I understand is supposed to have hygiene practices and procedures to keep patients safe and to aid them in recovery.

Also their apparent lack of concern for my complaint and being unable to get in touch with the Consumer Liaison department is appalling in my opinion.

I feel really bad for the patients who have no one to advocate for them.
