"Pregnancy journey and Birth"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

For my second pregnancy I was accepted into the KEMH Family Birth Centre under the care of my Primary Midwife Mimi. Throughout my pregnancy which I found physically and emotionally challenging due to suffering from hyperemesis and pelvic girdle pain, I was treated with so much kindness, respect and compassion from Mimi. Each visit my questions were answered and worries put to rest.

I felt completely safe in the care of Mimi, as well as my secondary midwife Emily. When it was time for my labour and birth, both my midwives Mimi and Emily were present. Mimi recognised when certain positions were no longer working for me and guided me throughout which resulted in a short active stage and reduced the amount of pain/stress I felt during my transition stage.

Mimi was an incredible emotional support during both my pregnancy and labour as well as extremely knowledgeable. After my birth I was also cared for by Laura who was also an incredibly supportive caregiver and went above and beyond to make me feel cared for when I was unexpectedly admitted for surgery and an overnight admission post birth. I would like to highlight the care provided by Mimi, Emily and Laura as exceptional, their kindness, compassion and knowledge will forever be appreciated.

Dear vegaeg37

Congratulations on the birth of your second baby and thank you for sharing your story with us. I am so pleased that despite the challenges of hyperemesis and pelvic girdle pain throughout your pregnancy and birth, you felt so safe, supported and well cared for by both Mimi and Emily. Additionally, it is lovely to hear that Laura was also a wonderful support through your overnight postnatal admission.

I will be very happy to share your kind acknowledgement with Mimi, Emily and Laura. I’m sure they will be very grateful to know how much their care meant to you and your family.

Best wishes

Delaney
