"My birth experience with the Midwifery Group Practice (5)"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as a service user),

I had an amazing experience with MGP5 at King Edward. I saw the same midwife (or her buddy) every few weeks from when I was about 24 weeks pregnant. I was able to outline my birth preferences which were exactly followed by my midwife when it came time to deliver. My midwives navigated me through a pregnancy complication called cholestasis which required an induction at 39 weeks. I felt very well cared for and empowered at every turn. I also really appreciated the after-birth follow up including several home visits. I wish every woman could have this level of care through the final trimester of their pregnancy, their baby’s birth and afterwards.

Dear hekatm95

Congratulations on the birth of your baby and thank you for sharing your experience with us. It sounds as though you were extremely well supported by your midwives at the Midwifery Group Practice (MGP). Your story highlights just how important support and continuity of care is, and it’s wonderful to know that the MGP team were able to provide this throughout your pregnancy, birth and postnatally.

I will be very happy to pass on your appreciation of the service to the MGP team.

Best wishes

Delaney
