(as the patient),

The entire diabetes team were amazing throughout my pregnancy! I always felt heard and supported through the challenges.

The MAFAU nurses and drs were always amazing, reassuring me about returning at any time if anything felt off or different.

I was induced at 35+3 with our little man arriving at 35+5. The Dr explained everything so well, and reassured me that any signs of distress they can reevaluate, as I was worried about baby.

The nurses were again, amazing, ensuring I had all questions asked and answered. They ensured my pain levels were managed and while each nurse has different approaches, the nurses who delivered our Son, was confident in making a natural birth happen and to given it every chance possible to happen. Which it did and I am grateful to her for that. More so, her quick thinking when baby had the cord around her neck, having not option but to ask me to push, she was able to remove the cord and baby was ok. The drs quickly got him to a good level and 5 Mins later he was on me. It was incredibly quick but everyone worked so well together and remained calm.

My pain was well controlled thanks to an epidural, which was placed so well, without any issues.  On the ward, all nurses were amazing, so helpful with Bub and I. I was genuinely blown away with their dedication and commitment throughout their shift, never hesitant to spend time working through issues or concerns.

When discharged, I felt such an overwhelming sense of gratitude for everything, that everyone does at king eddies and what they did for us.

When returning home, we had 2 visiting midwives, both were just as amazing as those on the wards. They were responsive, kind and supportive. There was no rush during the visit and they both provided great service.

The whole journey was emotional, from the day I was told I would be staying in and being induced, however we felt well supported and reassured. We knew our options and we were caught up on all of the other bits prior to the induction, with pain management etc discussed in advance.

As a same sex couple, we felt very comfortable with all staff and never felt judged.

Thank you, to everyone who was apart of our journey. You really have made a world of difference in ensuring we had the best experience possible, while ensuring our little man arrived safe and well.

Dear gammawr95

Congratulations on the birth of your little boy, and thank you for sharing your wonderful story with us. Your gratitude towards the team at King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) is so lovely to receive, and it's great to know that you felt well-supported throughout your pregnancy, birth, and post-partum period.

The quick thinking and calm demeanour of the staff during your son's birth must have been immensely comforting. It's wonderful to hear that the diabetes team, MFAU nurses, and doctors were so attentive and reassuring, especially during such a critical time. At the Women and Newborn Health Service, we are extremely proud of the compassion and care demonstrated by our staff, and we will be very happy to share your appreciation with the teams involved.

Wishing you and your family all the very best,

Delaney
