I attended Morowa Hospital Emergency with my 73 yo travelling companion after I found him confused and unable to get out of bed this morning. He had had a fall during the night in his caravan and had bruising on the side he landed on. There was no evidence of injury to his head.
He complained of nausea and vertigo while I was assisting him to get out of bed.
We arrived at the Morowa Hospital ED and were immediately seen by the on call triage nurse Manisha who I felt was the epitome of professionalism and courtesy. Later Milu also assisted in seeing to my friend. Michael also came and assisted during my friend’s admission.
All these health professionals made me feel how lucky my friend was to be in such capable hands.
My friend will be transferred to Geraldton because Morowa has exhausted its capability for causal determination. An online GP made the call on the transfer based on all the work Manisha had done.
For all the staff’s effort in assessing and managing my friend’s episode, I offer heartfelt, grateful thanks.
Tonight I’ll be drinking a toast to the small country hospitals who do such important community work. Thank you.
