About: Karratha Health Campus / Medical Imaging Department

(as a parent/guardian),

Our son has broken his tibia bone on his leg, and we live 2 hours away from the hospital and last time when our other child broke their arm we got sent away because imagining was closed - when we turned up on a Friday night. We were told it wasn’t life threatening and to come back on the Monday. Because we live so far away we didn’t want to go home incase something terrible happened we ended paying for a weekend stay in Karratha which wasn’t cheap.

So heading in today we were a little anxious as he did it the day before in the arvo when we knew imaging was closed so we didn’t go in because of our previous experience so we waited for the morning.

Today at Karratha hospital, Chris down in imaging was amazing and looked after our son very well he was listened to what we were explaining and was very thorough with the X-ray and ensured us he was looking at every angle and didn’t want to miss anything and he found a break in his bone we then went above and beyond and took us over to the emergency department to make sure we were seen straight away as our son was in a lot of pain we are very thankful of Chris in imaging at Karratha hospital.

Thank you for your feed back and I am very glad that you and your son had a positive experience when you attended Karratha Health Campus recently. The Karratha Health Campus is very proud of our Medical Imaging Department, and you are right Chris is an amazing Radiographer.

I am saddened to hear that you did not have the same experience with your previous presentations.

I would like to know more about what happened so we can initiate a thorough review with our clinical team. If you are happy to reach out, it would also support us to involve you in post-review discussions regarding any resulting outcomes and recommendations as a result of your feedback. Please feel welcome to contact me at your convenience on 9144 7777 or email me at: Andra.Woods@health.wa.gov.au.

Again, thank you for taking the time to share your story and I hope to hear from you in the near future.

Kind regards

Andra Woods |Operation Manager – West Pilbara
