"Positive antenatal & birth experience MGP Margaret River"

About: Busselton Health Campus / Maternity Unit, Childbirth & Parenting Education Margaret River Hospital / Maternity Department Positive Birth Program

(as the patient),

We had the most incredible experience with the Margaret River MGP team and are so thankful for their care as we welcomed our second son into the world. From the very beginning, the antenatal care was exceptional. Melony was professional, kind, and deeply supportive. I always felt heard and cared for, with Melony, Alana, and the rest of the team just a phone call away. Any time I had a concern, someone would call me back and organise an appointment the same day. that level of responsiveness meant so much. After experiencing pregnancy loss, I carried a lot of anxiety into this pregnancy. But the support from the MGP team helped me feel safe and cared for, and ultimately allowed me to have a positive pregnancy experience.

What made this journey even more special was having Melony by our side once again, as she was also our midwife for our first son. Her calm expertise and warmth have been a constant through the two biggest moments of our lives, and we feel incredibly lucky to have shared both experiences with her. These are memories we will truly treasure forever.

This birth experience was so positive and healing. Alana travelled up to Busselton Hospital from Margaret River, and her calm reassurance and clear communication helped us achieve the most peaceful, empowering birth. I’m honestly still in disbelief that birth could be this amazing.

We were also fortunate to have Dr. Heather as our obstetrician. Her warm and friendly nature, paired with her professionalism, gave us complete confidence. She ensured the safe delivery of our baby boy and made us feel completely supported throughout.

I also drew on the skills I learned through the WACHS Hypnobirthing program which I accessed during my first pregnancy and found them incredibly helpful once again.

My stay at Busselton Hospital was just as positive — I felt safe, supported, and completely cared for. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will carry these memories with me forever.

Dear Gratefulpatient123,

Thankyou for taking the time to write in your feedback, it was absolutely heartwarming to read. Congratulations on the birth of your second son.

It sounds like you have had a huge journey. Pregnancy after loss can come with huge challenges in terms of the stress and anxiety you as a family feel until you are holding your rainbow baby safely and healthy and well in your arms. I'm so glad that we as a health service (Mel, Alana and Margaret River MGP, Dr Heather, Busselton Maternity and the Hypnobirthing team) were able to support you to have such a healing pregnancy and positive birth experience for you.

We all hope that you are settling into life with your newest family member well.

Warm wishes,

Amy Gumbrell
