I had such a positive birth experience at KEMH. I engaged with midwife Ginny from the MGP via KEMH and she was a valuable source of information and reassurance throughout my first pregnancy journey. She guided me in this new world of all things pregnancy and I always felt at ease with her.
My usual midwife was not available when I went into labour however I was seen to by Anika who I’d had the opportunity to meet previously so that there would be some familiarity in the event that Ginny couldn’t make it. A shift change during my labour resulted in being cared for by Chiara who delivered our baby. Both Chiara and Anika were pillars of support during my long labour and the outcome was the smooth birth of our baby girl. I felt so well cared for by all the ladies involved in my care throughout the labour and birth stages.
The follow up care involved daily visits from midwives at my home until mother and baby were settled and ready for discharge from the program. I welcomed these visits as a great opportunity to ask questions and receive reassurance during those otherwise overwhelming first few days at home as we were finding our feet as first time parents. I would certainly recommend the MGP at KEMH and a special shout out to Ginny, Anika and Chiara for their particular care and involvement.
We are so grateful to the team for their support in this wild journey and hope to see them again down the track when we are ready for more babies!
