I am 77 years old. Recent blood test results reported that I was at Stage 3 of chronic kidney disease. I panicked and made an appointment with my GP who ordered a second test. The same results occurred. I googled my test results and the advice was to see a renal specialist. My GP sent a referral to the renal team at Bunbury hospital and ordered a CT scan of my kidneys.
I received an appointment as well as a request for a number of blood tests.
Dr Azlan was wonderful. He put me at ease and explained what all the blood test results meant in words that I could understand.
He talked about my general health, fitness, diet etc. As he went through my history on the computer screen he showed me how my kidney test results had changed over a number of years and projected that in 20 years I may have a problem. As I would be almost 100 years old I thought I could live with that!
He recommended regular blood tests to monitor the situation and indicated that my GP could make a further referral if she was concerned about anything in the future. He also gave me a card to contact the renal nurse if I needed any help or advice.
I felt so reassured, listened to and cared for.
The following day I had a call from the renal nurse inviting me to come and have a chat with her.
How fortunate we are in Bunbury to have this amazing renal team.
Thank you.
