I have been a patient of the Sleep Disorders Clinic at SCGH since the 1980s initially under a Professor until his retirement. Everything was going very well, had many regular appointments, tests and sleep studies. I also purchased CPAP machines there and masks and spare parts. Then in 1999 the replacement specialist said that everything is good and we'll only now need to see you once every 5 years. The clerk said that they didn't have a diary for 2004 and to ring up for an appointment time then. I did so but they said that they needed a new referral first, so I got that and sent it in, but I never was given an appointment. I've contacted them continuously since but still haven't got an appointment. My GP keeps sending in new referrals but they either never get them or they simply don't respond.
Unfortunately I need a prescription to get anything back from HBF to buy a new machine. Mine is over 25 years old now. And I need the Dr to confirm an application for a Life Support Equipment Energy Subsidy.
There must be a better way for the front desk staff to manage patients once they no longer require annual appointments
