I had a wonderful birthing experience through KEMH MGP4 program. The care provided by my midwife Emma from the first phone call at 10weeks organising my initial appointment through to follow up post birth was exceptional. I always felt extremely well supported and was given the choices to have the birth experience that I wanted.
Appointments were easy to schedule and no wait lines always made it easy to fit in around work commitments. Emma always made me feel comfortable with no question being a silly question. Being my first baby, and being filled with unknown and nerves, I was grateful for the care I received and that I could contact Emma at any time if I needed to ask a question. When I went into labour at home and called Emma in the middle of the night, she kept me calm and talked me through strategies to stay at home and then the process of going into the hospital.
She was able to make it into the hospital and deliver my baby boy despite being a quick labour. The follow up post birth through the MGP4 program was excellent. Having home visits from Emma or another midwife for the first 10 days post birth to support me through the adjustment and breastfeeding journey was amazing. She was also able to refer me to the mental health service when I was struggling at that time.
Overall I can’t talk more highly about the care received by the MGP4 program. I was so lucky to have had an amazing birth experience because of this and can’t thank my midwife Emma enough for all her care and support.
