"Emergency Dept"

About: Liverpool Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I went to ED at Liverpool Hospital.

The new ED department has just opened in May, in my experience it’s far too small for the amount of people it’s trying to service. They have ten red seats at the front of triage that are numbered 1 to 10, you sit in the red seats first to be seen by a triage nurse, then you sit on the chairs behind waiting to be called.

Had various tests over the day and pain relief Endone which was a life saver because of the pain I was in, sitting in a chair, no beds obviously.

Arrived about 5am  then just after 8pm my husband approached the staff as I was exhausted, then told they were waiting on a bed for me. When I was put in a bed, it was like a miracle.

I attended hospital because of the extreme pain, I would have stayed at home in my own bed if the pain was manageable. In my opinion, there was a clear opportunity to make ED fit for purpose, much bigger, more staff, more beds!
