"Gynae-oncology services"

About: Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital

(as the patient),

Appalling!!!

Referred from another region in March 2025  with aggressive uterine cancer Booked for a hysterectomy. It seems they missed vital things on scans, and from my medical history which I not only told them but gave them in writing.

Anyway stuffed around, made me jump through hoops. Seven Cat 1 waiting lists and 15 odd weeks  with absolutely no treatment not even a panadol. However I felt they treated me (and my family)  to a roller coaster ride of ongoing mental torture and anguish.

Now in mid June they inform me that my cancer has spread in the interim and it is now considered inoperable and cancelled surgery for the second time, again with less than 24 hours notice.

Complaints to RBWH and to Minister of Health QLD  in writing were passed on but nothing more happens. Zero feedback. So in my opinion, an absolute waste of time even writing them!

I now have been informed that the chances of oncology or any further treatment working, or me surviving past the next 12 months, are extremely low.

The public expects  better than this!!!  Being seen doesn't equal being treated.

How in the hell could I be on so many Cat 1 waiting lists and receive no treatment? Who decides the order of being seen on these waiting lists - the booking clerks? Why have I received no feedback when I have followed the due complaint procedure to both RBWH and the Minister for Health?

I feel the Qld Health Cat 1 waiting list system as it stands is seemingly nothing but a death sentence. Once a patient gets to the top of the list I believe they should remain there instead of being shuffled to the tail end of the next, then next, then next lists until it's too late.
