Being my first pregnancy I really did not know what to expect. I had been told early on about the Family Birth Centre through King Eddies and immediately put my application in.
I was contacted by Claire early on and we had our regular appointments and check ups together. Each appointment I left feeling supported, heard and like my concerns had been expressed and reassured with facts/advice. Claire made both myself and my partner feel comfortable and offered so much education to us when needed not just about the pregnancy but life and parenting itself from her own personal experiences.
I ended up having Vicky and Christina as my midwife when I went into labour and I cannot fault anything. From the moment I arrived to the birth centre I felt so safe with Vicky, she was hands off and did not push for anything. She let me go about birth in my own way whilst also informing me every step of the way what was happening. They had the bath set up so quick for me to birth in, and allowed me to feel what I needed to. The reassurance from both of them was outstanding and helped me push through to the end. I still struggle to put into words just how incredible Vicky and Christina really were, I am so grateful and lucky to have had them there. Christina is going to make such an amazing impact on women and their births once she is qualified. I truly felt so safe with the two of them
Writing this has reminded me just how amazing the care was through the family birth centre and how lucky we are to have something like this available.
