"Midwife group practice"

About: Broome Health Campus / Maternity/Midwifery

(as the patient),

Last week I gave birth to my second child, which has been a hugely positive experience. This pregnancy I went through the midwife group practice (MGP) pathway and am blown away by the care I received. The service is incredible, it’s free, they do visits to your home or the hospital. You can call or text anytime with questions. In my experience, you’re supported by extremely experienced midwives who you can feel confident in their decision making or recommendations. They then attend your birth which for me was the middle of the night, coach you to birth your baby which I absolutely needed coaching in.

Then follow you up every second day at home on discharge where they check you and the baby at your home (this care is across a 5month period or so). Im grateful for a really positive birth story second time around and couldn’t not of happened without choosing the MGP program and having a highly skilled midwife take care of me and my bub. Couldn’t recommend this service enough to all pregnant women in Broome and across Australia.

Hi millimeterth73,

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful birth story, and huge congratulations on the arrival of your second child!

It’s incredibly heartening to hear how positive your experience was with the Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) at Broome Health Campus. The continuity of care, the ability to call or text with questions, and having the same trusted midwife support you throughout — including during labour in the middle of the night — really highlights the strength and value of this model.

I’m especially glad to hear how supported, confident, and cared for you felt throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postnatal journey. That kind of personalised and compassionate care makes all the difference, and your feedback means so much to the team who dedicate themselves to providing it.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience and for recommending the MGP so highly — I’ll be sure to pass on your kind words to the team.

Warmest regards,
James Sherriff
