"Splendid treatment of two 87 years old pensioners"

About: Busselton Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Two weeks ago my 87 years old wife was very sick as she was having trouble breathing so I called an ambulance and she was taken to Busselton Health campus.

The treatment she received really was first class, after a few days she was well enough to come home but unfortunately she passed her illness on to me and two days later I was also taken by ambulance to Busselton Health Campus at midnight.

I too am 87 and quite fit though but when I arrived at the hospital I was really sick. After tests I was told that I had a virus called Human Metapneumovirus but for me this led to several more complications.

I was made to stay in my room but the service that I received during my 4 day stay was exceptional and the many nurses who attended me were really caring and kind, two whose names I recall are Indy, and Amanda and another Thai nurse who always seemed to be at my side. Those ladies are worth their weight in gold in my opinion. I was given a folder with all the details of my stay and scripts for more meds to get me properly cured.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience at Busselton Hospital. We’re truly sorry to hear that both you and your wife were unwell, but we’re very glad to know that you both received the care and support you needed during such a difficult time.

It’s wonderful to hear that the staff at Busselton Health Campus provided such exceptional care. Your kind words about the ward team who supported you so attentively will mean a great deal to them. We’ll make sure your appreciation is passed on to them -they truly are valued members of our healthcare community.

We also hope you’re continuing to recover well and taking things gently. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s anything more we can do to support you.

Yours sincerely, Dan

Dear Oaklegs Hall,

I am so sorry that you and your wife have both been unwell recently requiring an admission to hospital. It is very kind of you to take the time to write of your experience in Care Opinion.

We really do appreciate any feedback that we receive and obviously positive ones are even better! I will forward your letter to the manager of the wards where the named nurses work so that she can let them know what a good job they did and I will pass on your thanks to the ED staff.

I do hope you are now fully recovered.

Yours sincerely

Update posted by Oaklegs Hall (the patient)

I came home yesterday and still feel very fragile but my wife is ok now, she was in ward 1 room 42 and I was in ward 2 room 5.

I can't speak for my wife but my own experience was very good and there were so many people coming and going through my room that although I was isolated I knew that help was on the other side of my door.

I did put a post on Busselton Community Notices and there are now nearly 700 likes and almost 150 posts in reply and they are all positive. There is no doubt that the health campus is very highly regarded in our area. I should give a thank you mention to the ambulance people too of course who took us both to the hospital.

Yours Truly, Oaklegs Hall
