"Hospital admission"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Emergency Department Bunbury Hospital / Medical Ward

(as the patient),

I was admitted to Medical Ward B after 14 hours in ED. I was diagnosed with HMPV. I have never felt so ill in all my life, and had never been hospitalised for illness until now, at the tender age of 64. I was given all the required tests for this diagnosis.

The staff in ED were wonderful. They kept me informed as to what was happening next. I was offered food and drink after tests were done.  Once admitted to the ward I tried to rest to rest between coughing and having observations taken regularly. I was in alot of pain, but IV medications did seem to ease things a bit. Breathing was difficult without regular oxygen support, which  I required for a few days.

The meals offered throughout my stay were more than adequate, tasty and fulfilling. The staff on Medical B were very informative, and mostly positive. I was not forced to be discharged until I felt ready. I am now recovering at home, although I feel I am still a long way off being completely well.

I am grateful for the care I received. The outpatients follow up phone call was a positive experience. We are fortunate to have dedicated staff and good hospital care in our regions. Thankyou.
