"The birth of my baby girl in MGP"

About: Karratha Health Campus / Maternity Unit

(as the patient),

I’m so incredibly grateful to have been part of the Midwifery Group Practice at Karratha Health Campus for the birth of my baby girl. The level of care and support I received throughout my pregnancy, birth, and postpartum has been nothing short of amazing.

Leanne was my main midwife and was absolutely wonderful, so supportive, kind, and calm. I always felt like I was in safe hands with her. When I went into labour, Laura and Lea were the midwives on shift, and even though it wasn’t who I’d planned to have with me, I didn’t feel any less supported. They were both incredible and made me feel cared for and confident every step of the way.

I was really hesitant about being induced and felt quite anxious about it, but everything was explained to me so clearly and with so much compassion. I was included in every decision and made to feel empowered and respected the entire time.

I had a long early labour that lasted for days, my waters had broke and things weren’t progressing, induction became medically necessary. I was really hesitant and nervous about being induced, especially after hearing so many stories, but the way it was explained to me so clearly and compassionately it completely put me at ease. I felt informed and respected in every decision and every step.

It takes a very special kind of person to do this work, and these women are truly amazing. I felt so seen, heard, and held throughout the whole experience.

Thanks to the continuity model and the beautiful team around me, I was able to have a birth experience I feel really proud of and a story I love to tell. It was such a positive, grounding and healing time, and I’ll always be thankful to the MGP team for making that possible.

We can’t thank them enough.

So much love from our family.
